What is tantric massage, and what a real session is like

Tantric massage is talked about a lot and explained very little. This guide answers, without mystery, what almost everyone wonders before booking.

A simple idea behind the name

Tantra is a set of traditions from India that see the body, the breath and attention as one thing. In the West, tantric massage has kept the essentials: going slowly, breathing, staying present in what you feel and not rushing towards anything.

In practice it is a slow massage, with warm oil and long movements, in which the attention of the giver and the receiver matters as much as the hands.

What happens in a session

It begins with a short conversation: how you are, what you would like and what you would rather avoid. Then comes the massage, which moves over the whole body without hurry, and at the end there is time to come back gently. You set the pace and the limits throughout, and a word or a gesture is enough to change anything.

What it is not

It is not a medical technique or a therapy, and it does not promise to cure anything. Nor does it promise anything beyond an attentive, sensual massage: at Áurea Tantra we do not offer sexual services. It is a wellbeing moment for adults, with respect and no pressure.

Where to begin

If it is your first time, the simplest choice is the Awakening Massage, the gentlest on the menu. If you are coming as a couple, see massage for couples. And if what worries you is what to expect on the day, read first visit and etiquette.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know anything about tantra?

No. Your therapist explains the rhythm and you do not need to know anything beforehand.

Is it the same as a relaxing massage?

It shares the calm, but pays more attention to breathing, slow pace and presence. It usually feels more enveloping.

Massage and wellbeing centre for adults 18+. We do not offer sexual services.
